Performing live still feels like that karaoke mic all over again — a room full of strangers, and something in me that has to be honest anyway. Some rooms are bigger than others. The feeling's the same size every time.

Every song on Sky's The Limit came from somewhere real, and hearing people sing them back to me the same night the album came out is the moment the whole thing stopped being a private project and started being a career.

The night Northern Alberta showed up in Toronto.

I performed three songs that night, including "Timelapse," which I'd written days earlier in the same building. Somewhere between soundcheck and walking out, I stopped being nervous and just felt lucky. One of four artists picked nationally for this — I still don't entirely believe that sentence.
