Biography

The story is the brand.

Short bio · ~80 words

Jessa Sky is a Métis Cree pop artist from Edmonton, Alberta, whose music transforms addiction, recovery, and cultural reconnection into anthemic, radio-ready songs. A four-time #1 artist on the Indigenous Music Countdown and a SOCAN #1 Song Award winner, she was selected as one of four artists nationally for the 2025 CBC × SOCAN Reverie Indigenous Music Residency, performing at Massey Hall. She is also a keynote speaker and hosts the Sky Talks Podcast, where healing and humour collide.

Full bio

Jessica Valentine Sky Baker, known as Jessa Sky, is a Métis Cree singer-songwriter born in Treaty 8 Territory and now based in Edmonton (Treaty 6). Her music sits at the intersection of radical vulnerability and mainstream pop — built from a personal history of addiction, an eight-year path to sobriety, and a cultural reconnection with her Cree heritage that came only after she got sober.

Since her 2021 debut single “On My Own,” Jessa has become one of the most distinctive voices in Canadian Indigenous music: four #1 singles on the Indigenous Music Countdown, an official SOCAN #1 Song Award for “Touchin’,” a 2024 CBC Searchlight “Honorary Indigenous Artist” title, and a spot in CBC Music’s Top 100 Canadian Songs of 2025 for “Grievin’.” In 2025 she was one of only four artists selected nationally for the CBC × SOCAN Reverie Indigenous Music Residency, culminating in a live performance at Massey Hall’s Allied Music Centre in Toronto.

Beyond music, Jessa is a mental health and addiction advocate who speaks publicly about living with Borderline Personality Disorder, and hosts the Sky Talks Podcast — candid conversations on recovery, identity, and healing, released under the tagline “where healing and humour collide.”
